Topics and educational content

The goal is to achieve a satisfaction score of 65th percentile rank which would be a significant improvement over the current state. An increase in Patient Satisfaction on the Physician Communication domain must be demonstrated. Participants will also demonstrate an improvement in skills based on a post assessment completed by a self-assessment and/or by the Course Director in a follow up observation.

Purpose for the enduring material

The current state is low percentile rank on the Physician Communication domain in each of the patient satisfaction surveys used at Aurora (HCAHPS (Hospital): 56th; CGCAHPS (clinics): 48th ; ED: 63rd ; UC/WIC: 47th) and the desired state is 65th percentile rank. By the end of 2013, we desire to achieve a patient satisfaction score of 65th percentile rank.

Participants will be able to:

  • Translate the impact of poor communication on the patient satisfaction scores and the impact on physicians' practice
